Earnix: localization off marketing's plate

Case Study . Earnix

Jess wasn't looking for a better supplier. She wanted the whole thing off her plate. Undertow built the localization function and runs it for her. Two languages became four, and she doesn't have to deal with the day-to-day project management anymore.

"I've definitely been able to step back from localization, which was my aim."

Jess Freeland, Senior Growth Marketing Manager, Earnix

How localization lands on someone

Earnix was selling into more of Europe every quarter. Nobody owned the language work yet, so it went to whoever was closest to the content. That was Jess Freeland, then their Marketing Manager for EMEA.

She made it work for three years. But she sat in the middle of every request, and two pages of copy could take three weeks, with no date anyone had promised. That is a lot to carry, especially if it's on top of your full-time marketing job.

Then the part nobody warns you about: the moment it starts working, someone asks for two more markets.

"Our biggest bottleneck was resourcing and the time it took to manage the whole process."

What we did

First, we looked at what she had

Jess came to us while she was choosing a platform. The real question was not the software. It was who would run it.

So we started with a Grow-Ready Plan, our paid, structured look at how localization works today and what it would take to make it work properly. Earnix ran theirs from July to September 2025, while they were still deciding. By the time they signed with Lokalise in October, the thinking was done. Setup opened the following week.

Then we built what was missing

Style guides. A glossary, rebuilt out of everything their previous partner had already translated, so nothing was lost. The platform, set up and run by us. And the same translators, editors and designers every time, people who know insurance.

The core workflow ran within days. The full programme, including the website and design integrations and training their reviewers, took about ten weeks.

The alternative was hiring. Three to six months to find someone, three to six more to ramp up, and you are still one person deep. Earnix had a full team from day one.

Every job now has a date

Work reaches us three ways. Design comes straight out of Figma. Website pages come out of their CMS, an unusual one, so their developers wired it to the platform once with Lokalise's team while we designed the flow that runs on it. Everything else arrives on a shared board. All three come back finished.

Before, two pages took two to three weeks and nothing was promised. Now every request carries a deadline agreed up front:

Her team send work without asking her

Anyone in Earnix marketing can file a request directly. That is why Jess got her time back, and why Earnix now localizes more, not the same.

What changed

Jess directs. We execute.

Six weeks in, she had what she came for. She sets the direction, the day-to-day is ours, and because her team can send work themselves she isn't even the route in.

Adding a new language doesn't need a business case.

Earnix started with French and German. Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese were never in the plan. They were added once it was clear how little each one cost, and they run lighter, sized to those markets.
